1st April 2013 saw the most significant reforms in the field of legal costs and funding since the introduction of the CPR in 1999. Whilst it is too early to fully assess their impact, the sheer significance of the changes and in particular, the flagship reform of costs management/budgeting, has increased the need for Solicitors or anyone dealing with costs to have an experienced Costs Lawyer to turn to, and preferably one with a legal background.
The input of an experienced Costs Lawyer will be crucial in assisting Solicitors in this post Jackson world. What with the tough and uncompromising stance already being taken by Judges in relation to applications for relief from sanctions leaves no margin for error in fully understanding and complying with the Costs Rules.
As a qualified and accredited Costs Lawyer I have full rights of audience and can formally go on record as acting in costs litigation under CPR Parts 44-47 and 52.
